Arike Ogunbowale was born on the 2nd of March, 1997 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to parents Yolanda and Gregory Ogunbowale. She has two brothers, Mario (26 years old) and Dare Ogunbowale (20 years old). Being the youngest of her siblings, she was the most spoiled one by her parents. Her father, Gregory was posted in the Nigerian Army for quite some time.
Ogunbowale comes from an active family background. Her brother Dare is a football player and her mother Yolanda used to play softball at DePaul. Her aunt was a volleyball player at UAPB and her cousin Endia Oliver too plays Volleyball at Tennessee State.

Arike did her graduation from Divine Savior Holy Angels High School situated in her hometown. She also played three varsity seasons while studying there. She compiled her high school career with 73 career starts and lists career totals of 1,477 points and 739 rebounds.
Ogunbowale played in the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship, 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship and 2013 FIBA 3×3 U18 Championship and won Gold medals there. On July 7, 2014 she was also named to the 2014 USA Youth Olympic Women’s Basketball Team.
