Born Leslie Edward Pridgen, also known as Freeway was born on August 6, 1978, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. The Freeway is a rapper, singer, and songwriter. He coined himself the name Freeway from the name of the infamous drug trafficker “Freeway” Rick Ross. He made his debut with the studio album “The Freeway” (2010) which is the reason for his fame. He is the founder of “Freedom Thinkers Academy”. His Styles are East Coast Rap and Hardcore Rap.
He is best known for his contribution to the hip-hop music industry for several decades as a solo artist. He produced the hit song “Antidote” by Eminem. Freeway began his career by participating in freestyle battles in his high school and He was introduced to Roc-A-Fella Records by his friend Beanie Sigel. His first appearance was on The Dynasty: Roc La Familia, on the track “1-900-Hustler” with Sigel, Jay-Z, and Memphis Bleek.
Early Life
When the freeway was in high school, he started rapping in freestyle battles and performed at local clubs. His friend Beanie Sigel introduced him to Roc-A-Fella Records. Freeway began his career in the entertainment industry when he joined the rap group The Diplomats in 1998. The group released four studio albums between 1999 and 2003 before breaking up. Freeway went solo around 2006 and has since collaborated with other West Coast rappers such as Snoop Dogg and Tech N9ne. He has also recorded songs with other solo artists such as Lil’ Jon and Ginuwine.

His first two albums with State Property reached the top of the R&B charts and were among the top 15 of the Billboard 200. He released two albums independently and three on labels like FiveFinger2Good” (2012), and “The Life and Times of a Freeway (2014)”. Rapper Freeway’s recent kidney transplant
During a performance at the Made in America concert in September 2015, he started to feel sick. Freeway received a kidney transplant a few months ago after enduring dialysis for 3 years.
Awareness of kidney disease
Rapper Freeway has become an ambassador for the National Kidney Foundation. He says,
“I feel like it’s my job and my duty to spread awareness so people won’t be in the same position that I was in,”
Furthermore, he says, if would have known about his kidney disease earlier, he would have taken steps and made better choices and would not have ended up in that position.
Every single person out of seven people in the U.S. is suffering from kidney disease, said Andrea Giannini, development manager for the National Kidney Foundation.

Freeway Personal Life & Family Details
On Oct. 29, 2020, was revealed by the rapper on Instagram that his son, “Jihad Pridgen” has passed away.
“God knows I try my best to be strong, but this right here is a pain like I never felt,” Freeway wrote in a post dedicated to his son. “Please cherish your time and your love ones because we’re not promised the next breath.”
Like his father, Jihad was also trying his luck in the field of music. His stage name was Snow Hadd. Jihad had opioid addiction for two years “as per ABC6 News. He was recovering and getting better, but unluckily, that tragic accident resulted in his death.
After his son’s death Last Year, Rapper Freeway’s Daughter also passed away. Freeway’s daughter Harmony was diagnosed with cancer. She suffered from a tumor in her spine.
